An Apple a Day...

Why is it important to eat fiber rich foods if you are trying to loose weight?

Eating fiber rich foods helps you to feel full longer, so you are less likely to overeat!
Fiber is an indigestible part of all plant foods. It is found in fruits, vegetables, grains and beans.

What happens when you constantly overeat?
You start feeling:
indigestion
discomfort stomach aches
gases in the digestive tract
constipation
irritability
weight gain: which lead to a whole host of other problems.

In order to solve a problem, you should first find the reason for it. In this particular case it’s the lack of fiber-rich foods and – the higher intake of foods that contain no fiber (like meat or any other animal products). The average amount of recommended fiber intake is about 25-30 grams per day. Unfortunately most people regular diets include less than 10 grams daily.

You should start consuming more of these fiber-rich foods like:
all bran cereal
beans
peas
bananas
spinach
corn
whole wheat bread
red cabbage
carrots
baked potato with skin
apples
oranges
and much more...

Eat more beans, grains, fruits and vegetables to feel better, feel full longer, and have more energy!

There are two types of fiber – soluble and insoluble. If you start eating more food rich in both types of fiber, you’ll be amazed of its beneficial effects over your digestive system, your body, your health, energy, and overall life.
You feel fuller longer – that’s the effect that helps you eat less food, which is rich in fiber, and your digestive tract uses more energy to digest it. This way your body burns additional calories and you can lose weight. Of course it takes some time and work to reach your desired weight, but you won’t be starving yourself, and yet you’ll be losing weight , doesn't that sound fabulous?

What does eating fiber have to do with the Utah Fitness Retreat?

It's just one of the many things you'll learn about in your nutritional classes and discussions with our registered dietician. We'll show you many new ways of thinking about foods, how to start eating better, how to make healthy taste great, and much, much more. During your stay, you will be eating many fiber rich foods. Our chef will prepare these nutritious meals for you and you will see and feel the difference in your energy, body, and mind.

Pilates-My New Best Friend

What is Pilates? An innovative system of mind-body exercise evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates. And Just one of the many challenging and fun workouts you will participate in at the UTAH FITNESS RETREAT.

Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs. It teaches good posture, and graceful movement. It builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen. I've been sore for three days and I take that as a good sign. Not to mention, I already feel more toned, my flexibility has improved, and my back discomfort has been alleviated....Just after two weeks of doing pilates!

Pilates is a safe, sensible exercise system using a floor mat or equipment, that will help you look and feel your very best. No matter what your age or fitness level, it will work for you. After participating in a pilates class, my mind feels aligned with my body, I feel refreshed, and stronger.

Here at the UTAH FITNESS RETEAT, be prepared to move your body to create the shape you want. Our certified instructors will help you achieve your goals and I guarantee this is one class you'll want make a consistent part of your workout plan once you leave.
